PRO-CHOICE IS NOT PRO-ABORTION!

I have a feeling that with Obama wining the presidency, there are going to be more and more people than there already are bitching about abortion. Which probably means that those of us who are pro-choice ; who believe that women have a RIGHT to decide what they do ; will be thought even less of. Because for some reason, many "pro-lifers" think those of us who are pro-choice are dead wrong ; that abortion (or anything else like it) is the devil.

I'm sorry, but that's just wrong.

You think it's okay to take rights away from women to decide what they want to do in situations like that? After women have faught for any form of right for years and it hasn't even been really that long since they got them? If the government takes away one right, no matter how 'evil' some people think of it, who's to say that they will know when to stop? Or even HOW. Everyone knows our government is corrupted. It has been for a long time.

Now. Onto the actual stuff about the same.

I actually take it very offensivly when people think that anyone who is pro-choice is wrong and that abortion would be 100% illegal. Guess what, even if it does become illegal (which right now thanks to President Obama, will remain legal for at the very least, 4 more years) people will still do it! Before it was legal, women did it anyway. But by people who had no idea what they were doing. It's safter just to keep it legal than make it illegal and the women end up dying from unsterial tools and such.

And my biggest peeve about those who think it's wrong : rape. Can you honestly tell me, with 100% honesty, that if you were raped, and you got pregnant, you would be able to have that thing as a constant reminder of what happened? Even if you gave it up for adoption and never had to see it again, the reminder is still there. Do you know how many children are beaten by their parents because their mother didn't want them ; mostly because the child was a result from a rape? How many of those children are killed by their mothers each year because she didn't want it? How many kids are forced from their homes because they are the result from a rape? How many end up turning to crime because they are the result from a rape?

Yes, I do believe that there should be some regulations. Teenagers should not be able to get an abortion [unless raped] without parent concent. I mean, if you are stupid enough to get pregnant as a teen, then it's your own fault. It just shows you two things ; 1) don't have sex unless it's safe and, 2) they obviously weren't thinking. But if a teenager gets raped, they should have all the right to get the child aborted if they want to.

It should also have to be done as soon as possible. None of these "partial-birth abortions" and what-not. That's killing a living being at that point. It's the only aspect of abortion that I don't really like. If you've waited that long, just give it up for adoption to someone who can love it.

Any highly flamatory coments will be hidden.

Honestly, I dont think I could ever have an abortion. But I highly believe that everyone makes choices and they should be allowed to make them for themselves. If someone believes abortion is the way to go, then that is their choice to make.

I agree, though, that just because one is pro-choice it does not mean you are pro-abortion.

I like your stamp. =)

The thing many pro-life radicals fail to realize is that the many pro-choice people really want the same end they do-- less abortions or even no need for them anymore. We however have very different means to that end. They want to make it illegal and supply typically only abstinence education, we typically want proper sexual education and access to birth control methods but not to eliminate the option of abortion if it is needed. But at the very end of it all, I think we'd all like there to be less abortions having to done.

At least, that's how I feel.

I agree with you. :] I'm pro-choice, but I would still love to see the amount of abortions go down to almost nothing. If only the two different groups could just set aside aspects of their beliefs and try to work together..

I'm not sure if I would or not. And I really hope I'm never backed into that corner where I might find out. But choice is good. It gives Americans freedom. And if that's what America is supposed to be about then yeahh..

This is what a lot of people need to understand.

I could be considered Pro-Life because I personally could never have one, and am not too keen on the practice; but, I also believe that women should have the right to choose, in the same way that I'm not for it. As you mentioned, abortions can be a blessing when it comes to rapes, and well, I think people should have the right to choose. They shouldn't have that right taken from them just because some people don't think it's a good choice to make.

Excellent stamp. It's great that we finally have one to share our opinion.

Amen! What a woman chooses to do with her body is not the government's decision. Pro-choice is exactly that, CHOICE. No one's forcing anything on anyone. If you don't like abortion, then don't friggin' get one! The same goes with gay marriage; if you don't like it, don't get one! I don't understand why people are constantly trying to force their opinions and beliefs on everyone else, especially when most of the time, these things don't even apply to them!

Exactly. :] People can't seem to see that many have been totally misinformed on things ; just like gay marriage. It's not really wrong persay. Love is love no matter what the gender. It's all about choice. It's what America was supposed to be founded on. Choice and freedom. But many have forgotten that over the years. It'd be nice to know where exactly in history things started to take this turn and be able to go back to prevent it.

Yeah. I'm not really keen on it, but women do have the right to choose. I think a lot of people don't even think it right for rape is because some think the women "lead the men on" (something I just learned in soc that's a myth).

And thank you. :]

We are of like mind. Those people who have that take on rape...I guarantee you they'd change their tune if it happened to someone close to them, of to themselves for the women who say that.

I have a novel I'm writing. A girl is raped by someone but chooses to have the baby. One of her reasons is she has no mother, her father is incarcerated at the time, and her older sister had died two years before, and all she has now is her boyfriend, his family, and of course, the baby, so it's family to her. I've always had this specfic opinion about abortion and women's rights, and this story basically showed a girl who opted to keep her child, but realized she had the choice to back out of it.

I dunno, I just think that if people have the right to smoke and spread second hand smoke to people around them, then women should have the right to choose whether or not to have an abortion. Like smoking, I'm not keen on it, but I also think people should have the right to choose ^^

You're welcome ^^
